The Last Word
Okay, so this cocktail doesn't have Irish origins, but it is fun, festive, and green! Oh, and it is light, refreshing, and delish! If you want to make it more "Irish" ... opt for an Irish Gin!
This is a prohibition-era cocktail that is traditionally made with a 1-1 ratio (1 portion of each of the ingredients). That version is a bit too sweet for my taste, so I've adapted it and feel that this is a bit more balanced overall.
Once you try this, you'll want to make it long beyond St. Paddy's Day!
Makes 2 cocktails
-
4 oz. ounce gin
-
1.5 oz. ounce green Chartreuse
-
1.5 oz ounce maraschino liqueur
-
1.5 oz. ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
-
Optional Garnish: zest of lime
Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into two cocktail glasses and garnish if desired.
